The Kidney Lifeline (Dialysis Unit)
The primary objective of this program is to establish and upgrade a state-of-the-art Dialysis Unit at Accord Hospital, Moshi, to deliver comprehensive and critical renal care services to the community.
Overview
Project Aims
- The hospital seeks INR 1,11,50,000 to upgrade and strengthen the Dialysis unit
- This will help in reducing patient transfer to distant facilities by enhancing capacity to treat critically ill patients
- The initiative directly aligns with Schedule VII of Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, under promoting healthcare, including preventive and emergency care
Vision and Objective
The primary objective of this program is to establish and upgrade a state-of-the- art Dialysis Unit at Accord Hospital, Moshi, to deliver comprehensive and critical renal care services to the community
Specific Objective
- Access to Lifesaving Care – Establish a dedicated Dialysis Unit to provide timely and affordable renal care to patients with chronic kidney disease.
- Reduce Travel Burden – Increase availability of Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) locally, minimizing the need for patients to travel long distances for dialysis.
- Support Vulnerable Communities – Extend subsidized or free dialysis services to economically weaker sections to reduce financial hardships.
- Improve Clinical Outcomes – Enhance patient survival, reduce complications, and promote continuity of care through regular, high-quality dialysis services.
- Emergency and Critical Care Readiness – Ensure 24×7 availability of dialysis support integrated with emergency and intensive care services, benefiting disadvantaged and vulnerable populations.
- With the establishment of this unit, Accord Hospital aims to reduce mortality rates in dialysis-dependent patients by over 50%, significantly improving survival and quality of life for thousands of individuals in the PCMC and surrounding regions.
Project Impact
- Patient Care & Access
- The Dialysis Unit will enable Accord Hospital to provide treatment to approximately 5,000 patients annually..
- Timely and regular dialysis will significantly improve survival and quality of life in patients with chronic kidney disease.
- Mortality Reduction
- The addition of this department is expected to reduce mortality rates by more than 50% among dialysis-dependent patients.
- This translates to over 1,750 lives saved in the next 7 years (an average of 250 lives saved per year). Support to Economically Weaker Sections
- Around 700 patients will directly benefit from free or subsidized dialysis services over 7 years (approximately 100 patients annually).
- The value of these subsidized services is estimated at ₹10.5 crore over the 7-year lifecycle of the equipment.

Community Impact
Reduced Late-Stage Disease & Hospital Overload
Based on local health surveys and past health camps in PCMC (e.g. screening camps in Moshi industrial belt), many CKD cases are detected only in advanced stages. With the Dialysis Unit, early and regular treatment becomes possible locally, reducing emergency hospitalizations and burden on tertiary hospitals.
Lives Saved & Mortality Reduction
Drawing on outcomes from health initiatives in Pimpri-Chinchwad (for example, projects that provided emergency care or mobile health support saved lives in similar patient cohorts), the dialysis unit is projected to reduce mortality by over 50%, saving around 250 lives per year.
Financial Relief for Local Families
By offering dialysis locally, patients from Gaikwad Vasti, Chikhali, Bhosari, etc., will save thousands each month in travel + indirect costs.
Support to Underserved Workers & Low
Industrial workers in PCMC often have low access to specialty care. Similar CSR efforts in industrial belts (e.g., free health checkups, basic emergency services) have shown improvement in attendance, reduction in labor absenteeism. The Dialysis Unit similarly will help workers maintain continuity of livelihood by reducing treatment travel time and cost.
Social Equity & Community Trust
By building on existing hospital’s work (e.g. Emergency Care, Physiotherapy), the Dialysis Unit shows Accord Hospital’s commitment to comprehensive care for all, especially those who are often left out due to cost or distance. It also strengthens corporate partners’ ties with the community via visible, measurable impact in Moshi/PCMC.
